What MP4 Metadata Is Extracted?

FAQ

What is the moov box?

The moov (movie) box is the main metadata container in MP4 files. It contains the movie header (mvhd), track definitions (trak), and user data (udta). Without it, the file cannot be played.

Why does my MP4 show no creation date?

Some screen recording software and video editors don't write creation timestamps to the moov box. Also, re-encoding a video may reset or remove the original dates.

Can I remove metadata from MP4?

Yes, use our Video Metadata Remover to strip timestamps, GPS data, and user metadata from MP4 files while preserving video and audio quality.
